Libby Watts
Trustee and Group Secretary
Libby Watts is an environmental professional, with over 16 years’ experience in a variety of climate change and waste management roles. She has worked in the domain of climate action at local government level since 2021, and previous to that worked in both private and public sector roles. She has diverse knowledge in all subjects relating to community, carbon reduction and action planning as well as being a carbon literacy trainer and climate fresk trainer. Libby has a BSc (Hons) Environmental Studies and is currently studying an MSc Business Sustainability Specialist. She runs Yatton Repair Café, Yatton Party Kit and Costume Hire, and the North Somerset Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Facebook page as well as running regular local litter picks and Freecycle events.

Helen Gavin
Chair
Helen is a chartered Water and Environment Manager with interests spanning the topics of water, renewable energy, climate change and wider environmental issues. She has extensive experience in consultancy and academia, working in the water industry on environmental and renewable energy projects. She moved to North Somerset in July 2021, before then living and working in Oxfordshire, participating in projects with many water companies and regulators, as well as Partnership for Renewables, the Oxford University Programme on Integrating Renewable Energy, and Low Carbon Hub. She has been a volunteer Director of Low Carbon Gordano since September 2022 and writes its newsletters. She also manages the ZCNS Home Energy Task Force, and volunteers with other initiatives.

John Belton
Treasurer
John Belton is a founder member of Nailsea Climate Emergency Group and Litter Free Nailsea, who is very involved in the climate movement as well as local and national actions to raise awareness of issues around the climate and environmental crisis.
In addition, John is the Treasurer for The Home Energy Task Force – a local volunteer group carrying out home thermal camera surveys to identify cold areas in houses and offering energy advice to homeowners.
Olivia Bentley
Freelancer
Olivia Bentley is a BSc Environmental Science graduate from the University of Plymouth and works as a Sustainability Consultant within the built environment focusing on BREEAM – an environmental assessment method for buildings. Olivia has been involved with Zero Carbon North Somerset since November 2023 and also volunteers with other initiatives.
